Little Saigon

Nestled within San Francisco's Tenderloin district, Little Saigon is home to hundreds of Vietnamese American-owned businesses and community groups. The Little Saigon series explores the intersection of community, visibility and corporate support in the Tenderloin and beyond. Neighborhood characters and overheard phrases are painted upon a pamphlet for CAAMFest37, an Asian American film, music and food festival that takes place in the SF Bay Area. This series asks, what would the pamphlet look like if it were a more direct visual translation of the Little Saigon neighborhood? How does the narrative change when it reflects the residents’ experiences versus the media outlets and companies that sponsor them?
